Quality Assurance Manager

Quality Assurance Manager Louisa Food Products, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of high-quality filled pasta and appetizers. The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will lead the plant in the implementation of Louisa's Quality Systems and will develop and continuously improve plant policies and procedures for monitoring and ensuring conformance to specifications for incoming raw materials as well as for finished product. Develop and ensure implementation of food safety and monitoring programs to meet corporate and regulatory standards. This individual is ultimately responsible for food safety and food quality, including but not limited to the following:

• Compliance related area:
  • Prerequisite / preventative control programs (i.e. GMP, HACCP, Allergen, SQF, CCP, etc.)
  • Preparation and resolution for all Company Quality Audits (SQF).
  • Supplier Approval Programs (including working with Trace Gains, COA's).
  • Customer specifications
  • Liaison with USDA, FDA, Pest Control
  • Develop and conduct at a minimum annually, various employee training related to quality and food safety expectations/programs of the quality management system (i.e. GMP, HACCP, Allergen, SQF, CCP, etc.)
  • Manage quality control procedures to ensure accurate raw materials and finished product traceability for returns evaluation and potential product recall.
• Operational Quality:
  • Leads and mentors Quality Auditors, on two shifts, who monitor production adherence to quality standards, and prepare product release documentation and work tests.
  • Input into quality assurance documentation prepared by production personnel, as well as cook tests.
  • Develop and implement SOP's to ensure products are packaged to all applicable standards.)
• Lab/Microbiological:
  • Manage lab personnel who perform the following tests:
    • Environmental swabs.
    • "Clean Equipment Swabs" – used to validate sanitation efforts.
    • Product tests to assure compliance with specification and validate sanitation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, quality or a related discipline.
• Solid understanding of the microbiological issues in a wet clean operation, including sanitization and on-line sampling. Dairy experience would be ideal.
• 3-5 years quality assurance management experience and two (2) or more years as a quality analyst with an emphasis on process improvement, quality and risk assessments, quality audits and studies; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• In-depth knowledge and use of process improvement and quality management methods, tools, and technology used to create and support defect-free, application software or business operations processes for which the quality program will be focused.
• SQF Practitioner – Will be responsible for any changes or updates to the SQF program.
• In-depth knowledge and experience conducting risk analyses; quality assessments, audits and/or studies; and implementing successful process improvement programs.
• Considerable skill in analysis, solid decision-making and problem solving.
• Ability to succeed in an agile work environment where cross-functional teams work closely together to ensure requirements are met or exceeded.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve the company and project goals.
• Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and teambuilding skills, working with technical and non-technical individuals.
